Appearance
Dark but bright, even, scarlet red.
Nose
Fresh, bright red fruit - particularly red cherries, raspberries.
Palate
Light to medium body. All the bright red fruit of the aroma is immediately present on the palate, with a fresh but not unpleasant acidity suggestive of slightly unripe red plums. Some slighty yeasty notes on the front palate too. Light, dry tannins set up the finish with some subtle oak characters and vanilla apparent on the back palate.
Overall
Fresh, fruity, and very quaffable. While the yeasty notes are potentially distracting they are far from dominant and easily forgiven when you look at the price tag. A fine choice in its price range and good, reliable drinking for casual summer barbeques.
