Dense, deep purple.
Nose
Intense boysenberry jam and plum jelly, and sweet spicy tomato chutney. Some smokey vanilla oak.
Palate
Full-bodied. Lots of dense, jammy black fruit on the front palate. Develops with a good tannic structure and well balanced acidity. The generous back palate reveals some invigorating gamey notes, savoury pepper, tamarillos, and smokey oak.
Overall
Nieto Senetiner's Bonarda is a classic example of the Argentine treatment of the grape: big, bold, dense, racy and exciting. If you're new to Bonarda, think Aussie Shiraz or a really big Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend with plenty of time in oak. You may struggle to find the 2003 at retail now, but the 2004 presents similar characteristics and is a real bargain for lovers of big, bold, dense and fruity wines.
