Appearance
Pale and clear. Silvery-green hues.
Nose
Closed. Under serious encouragement, some traces of pineapple and pawpaw, with a hint of lime can be coaxed forth.
Palate
Light-bodied, almost thin. Very citric - lemons - with no other real discernable fruit characters. Some sour green apple acidity on the finish.
Overall
A very disappointing wine from a respected producer. There was no indication in the nose or palate that the bottle was spoiled, but this Sauvignon was so poor I hope there is an explanation beyond, simply, seriously under-ripe fruit. Virtually no aroma; no fruit character, varietal or otherwise, on the palate; instead, totally dominated by citric and malic acids. Not undrinkable, just not what you would choose to drink. Whatever the explanation, at this price it is totally unacceptable.
